Death of Mrs. Dave Green

Mrs. Dave Green, long time resident of Winterset and Madison county, died at the Winterset hospital, Monday morning, May 4th after an extended illness. Mrs. Green was 80 years of age last September and had lived in this county since 1879 when she came here with her husband, the late Rev. L. B. Davis.

For twenty-two years, she lived on a farm, three miles east of Winterset and the remainder of the time she has resided in Winterset.

Mrs. Green has been critically ill since last fall. She fell Monday morning however, and broke her hip. She was taken to the local hospital but she died soon afterwards from shock resulting from the fall.

The deceased is survived by her husband and two sons, and a daughter, all of Winterset, Ben B. and Henry L. Davis and Mrs. Ernest Preston. Funeral services were held at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home Wednesday afternoon and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

LAST RITES HELD FOR MRS. DAVID M. GREEN

Services for Mrs. David M. Green, who died May 4, were held Wednesday afternoon at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home conducted by Rev. l. F. Davis. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.

Mrs. Green was Catherine A. Henning, daughter of Jacob and Mary E. Henning, and was born near what is now Garden Grove, September 22, 1855. She was left an orphan when six, her father dying in action in the Civil war and her mother dying from the shock.

She was married to Levi B. Davis January 11, 1878. Six children were born to them, George, Hittie, Mary, Ben B., Henry L. and Kathryn. Mr. Davis and three children, George, Hittie, and Mary are deceased.

She was married to David Green of Adair county October 18, 1892. A daughter Allie, died in infancy. She leaves her husband, two sons, Ben and Henry Davis, a daughter Mrs. Ernest Preston, eight grandsons, two granddaughters, six great-granddaughters.
