ORA SIMMONS DIED HERE LAST FRIDAY

Had Returned Recently After Futile Trip West in Search of Health

Ora Simmons, long-time resident of Madison county, and a widely-known citizen of Walnut township for most of his life, died at his home in Winterset last Friday. He was 65 years of age and had been in failing health for the past four years.

He was the son of Alfred R. and Mary Catherine Simmons, and was born in the Ebenezer neighborhood. He lived all his life near Peru, with the exception of nine months preceding August of this year. During this time he resided in Selah, Wash., but since the climate failed to improve his health, he had returned to Winterset.

He was married in 1901 to Charlotte Foster, who survives him. In addition he leaves a daughter, Edith, of Selah, Wash., two sons, Lenzil of Selah, and Dale of Winterset. He also leaves two brothers, Edmund of Fulton, Kan., and Edwin of Wichita, Kan.

Funeral services were held at Peru, in charge of the Rev. Howard Machlan, pastor of the Peru Methodist church. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
