PAUL TILP OF PERU VICTIM OF SUICIDE

Well-known Young Grocer Takes Own Life by Hanging

Paul Tilp prominent young businessman of Peru, took his own life by hanging at hishome in that community Sunday evening.

No reason could be ascribed by family or friends for his act. He had been in good health and was in comfortable financial circumstances.

The body was found by his young son, Paul, Jr., when the lad and his mother returned from a Sunday evening visit at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Schoenenberger, who lived nearby. The body was found in a stairway off the kitchen. Tilp had fised a dog-chain around his neck and hanged himself from a nail in the wall. He had stayed at home while his wife and son went to visit her parents in order to do some work connected with his grocery business.

Paul Tilp had been the proprietor of the Tilp grocery since the death of his father, Charles Tilp, about three years ago. He was reared and educated in Peru, and that community had always been his home.

He was about 34 years of age. He is survived by his wife, the former Blanche Schoenenberger, his son, about 8 years old, and his mother.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Peru Methodist church, in charge of the pastor there. Burial was made in the Peru Cemetery.
