FRANK CREGER PASSED AT DEXTER SATURDAY

Funeral Rites Held Monday and Burial was Made at Peru

Frank Creger, who spent most of a long life in Madison county and was widely-known here, died last Saturday at the hospital in Dexter. He was 75 years old.

He was the son of John and Margaret Creger and was born in Madison county Oct. 13, 1863. His father was a minister in the Christian church. He was married to Cynthia Powell, and they were the parents of the following children: Mrs. Vivian Tomlinson of Los Angeles, Merle Creger of Leon, Kan., Marvin Creger of Jefferson and John Creger of Dexter. A daughter, Marcia Schilling, preceded her father in death.

Mr. Creger had united with the Christian church at Peru in 1896 and remained a member as long as he lived.

In addition to the wife and children, he leaves a brother, Amos Creger of Indianola, 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist church last Monday, conducted by the Rev. J. H. Freedline. Burial was made in the cemetery at Peru.

Frank Creger, son of John and Margaret Creger, was born in Madison county, Iowa, Oct. 13, 1863, and passed away at the clinic hospital at Dexter, Nov. 19th, 1938, at the age of 75 years, one month and six days.

He was united in marriage to Cynthia Powell in Des Moines in 1890 by the Rev. Breeding, pastor of the Christian church. He leaves to mourn his loss, his devoted wife, one daughter, Vivian Tomlinson, of Los Angeles, California; three sons, Merle, of Leon, Kansas, Marvin of Jefferson, Iowa, and John of Dexter; thirteen grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and one brother, Amos, of Indianola. Those preceding him in death were one daughter, Marcia Schilling, father, mother, five sisters and two brothers.

He joined the Christian church at Peru, Iowa, in 1896. He had spent his entire life in Iowa and had made his home in Dexter for the past six years. Mr. Creger was a kind loving husband and father. He was a loyal and true friend and esteemed by all who knew him.

The funeral service was held Monday afternoon from the M. E. church conducted by the Rev. J. H. Freedline. Interment at Peru, Ia.

The relatives from out of town who attended the funeral service were Mrs. Robert Tomlinson, of Los Angeles, Cal.; Merle Creger, of Leon, Kan.; Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Creger and son, Lowell, and Mrs. Julia Clifton of Peru, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Sam Powell, of Winterset; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Powell, of Lorimor; Mrs. Leonard Jorgensen of Clarinda; Mrs. Amos Creger and family of Indianola’ Oscar and Orville Powell of Des Moines; and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Tomlinson and children of Clarion.
