Funeral services for Howard Kivett were held from the Wesley Chapel church at 2:00 p.m., Feb. 4, 1938, conducted by the Rev. B. R. Weetman. Music was furnished by James Steele, Wayne Crow, Mrs. Neva Bader and Mrs. Luella Whitworth, accompanied by Mrs. Opal Crow. Pallbearers were Jud Walker, Ern Hardin, L. D. Weeks, Roy Rogers, Edd Platte and Ike Eivins. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Mitchell took care of the flowers. Interment was made in the Kivett cemetery.

William Howard Kivett, son of William Monroe and Anna Kivett, was born in Hendricks county, Ind., Aug. 5, 1854, and departed this life Feb. 1, 1938, at the age of 83 years, 5 months and 27 days. He came with his parents to Madison county when about one year old, settling on the farm where he resided 82 years, until his death.

In 1886, he was united in marriage to Maggie Givan. To this union five children were born, Elmer of Peru, Eugene Lee, and Anna of Orient, and Mrs. Grace Silverthorn of Macksburg.

He united with the Baptist church at Macksburg when he was a young man of which he was still a member at the time of his death.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, five children and seven grandchildren, also one sister, Elmira Craven of Winterset, one brother, Leroy Kivett of Miami, Florida, and an adopted sister, Mrs. Mabel Griswold and other relatives and friends.
