Charles Shaver died Tuesday, October 8th at the home of his sister, Mrs. Carey Palmer of Earlham at the age of 53 years. He was the son of George and Sarah Shaver, pioneer residents of Madison county.
He was born March 16, 1882, at St. Charles. On February 24, 1903 he was married to Lizzie Pratt and they made their home for several years at Story City. Later they moved to Oakdale and El Paso, Texas. For the past eighteen months, he has resided with his sister.
Mrs. Shaver died ten years ago. He leaves one son, Charles Oren Shaver of Maxwell, one brother, Oscar Shaver of St. Charles and six sisters; Mrs. Laura Cason, St. Charles, Mrs. Betty Blair of Wick, Mrs. Allie Taylor of Winterset, Mrs. Sina Pixler, Ordway, Colorado, Mrs. Emma Freeman of Des Moines, Mrs. Lula Palmer of Winterset and Mrs. Ollie Palmer of Earlham.
He was a member of the Odd Fellow lodge at Maxwell and Story City. Funeral services were held Thursday, October 10, at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church in Maxwell and burial was made in the Maxwell cemetery.
