The funeral of William W. Cassiday who passed away on Monday at about 12:30 p.m. was held from the Tidrick funeral home on Wednesday morning at 10:30. Practically all of his life had been spent in Winterset. His father, W. P. Cassiday was the grantee to the land on which the old Cassiday home stands, now occupied by E. H. Thomas and stands just between the cemetery and the city park.
There were four children born to Mr. and Mrs. Cassiday. Helen Elwell of Denver, who has cared for her father for some months and Fred Cassiday who is now employed as guard at the State Penitentiary at Fort Madison. Two children, Lenore and John died when quite small. Mrs. Clara Faurote Cassiday died in 1900. He was married to Emma Matilda Drager in 1902. She died about six years ago.

W.W. Cassiday, one of Winterset's most widely known citizens, and a justice of the peace here for more than a quarter of a century, died at his home Monday afternoon after an extended illness. He was 77 years of age.
He was the son of W.P. Cassiday, a Madison county pioneer, and had spent practically his entire life in Winterset. He is survived by a son and a daughter, Fred Cassiday of Ft. Madison and Helen Elwell of Denver. Funeral services will be held from the Tidrick funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in charge of the Rev. M.R. Tulley, pastor of the Methodist church.
