MARION A. NIBLO, Winterset

Marion A. Niblo, 74, of Winterset died Saturday, May 19, 2007, at Madison County Health Care System in Winterset.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, May 23) at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset with Pastor Donna Vaughan officiating. Military honors were performed by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8142 and American Legion Post 184, both of Winterset. Burial of the cremated remains was at Winterset Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

Marion was born Aug. 18, 1932, in Polk County, Iowa, the son of Dale and Edith (Roberts) Niblo. He graduated from Winterset High School in 1950 and later attended Drake University. He served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. During his working career, Marion was a farmer and also worked construction for many years.

Marion was a member of the United Methodist Church in Winterset. He loved to visit with friends and tell jokes. He also enjoyed talking about politics. He liked to read, watch football and cook. But most of all, Marion enjoyed the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his children — Cathy Allen (Bud) of Winterset, Doug Niblo (Kathy) of Waukee, Marty Niblo (Jodi) of Tucson, Ariz., Jennifer Wederquist (Mark Washington) of Las Vegas, Nev., Angie Brockway (Steve Krause) of Winterset, and Jeanne Forsyth of Winterset; 19 grandchildren — Chad (Erinn), Wesley, Robin (Cole), Jamie, Erin (Al), Jeff (Ana), Cade, Brian, Jaime, Tyler, Grant, Mollie, Nate, Justin, Whitney, Taylor, Cole, Harrison, and Lindsey; and two great-grandchildren — Mason and Mikyla.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Niblo.
