FORMER LOCAL TEACHER SUCCUMBS IN WYOMING

Mrs. W. L. Hurst Was Sister of Mrs. Martha Kirk of Winterset

Mrs. Martha Kirk of Winterset was notified Sunday of the death of her sister, Mrs. W. L. Hurst of Rock Springs, Wyoming.

Mrs. Hurst was the former Miss Hannah Hamblin and was born in Madison county in 1857. She was reared in this community and taught for a number of years in the Winterset schools.

Mrs. Hurst later taught school in Kansas, prior to her marriage to W. L. Hurst of Colorado. After her marriage she made her home in Colorado until the death of her husband. Recently she has been living with her two sons at Rock Springs, Wyoming.

County Briefs – Monroe

Word was received here of the death of one of Monroe’s pioneer residents, Mrs. W. L. Hurst, who died at her home in Rock Springs, Wyoming, February 8.

Mrs. Hurst will be remembered as Miss Hannah Hamblin. She was born on the farm a quarter mile east of Hamblin cemetery in 1857 and lived there until 1885 when she married and moved to Aspen, Colorado, where she lived until seven years ago when she went to Wyoming to be near her sons.

Mrs. Martha Kirk, a sister, survives her.
