91-Year-Old Local Woman Came to Iowa From Germany
Mrs. Mary Frederickson, a resident of Madison county for 67 years, died at her home in Winterset, Wednesday, at the advanced age of 91 years.
Mrs. Frederickson was a native of Germany and was born there on January 7, 1846. She was the former Mary A. Lorenzen, daughter of John and Martha Lorenzen. As a young woman she emigrated to the United States, coming directly to Iowa and a year later she settled in Madison county. Since that time this county had been her home.
She was married on March 8, 1871 to George M. Frederickson in a ceremony performed in Winterset. Mr. Frederickson died in 1923. They were the parents of three children. One daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Macumber died in 1931. Two sons, Oscar Frederickson of Peru and John Frederickson of Winterset, survive their mother.
Mr. and Mrs. Frederickson spent most of their lives on a farm in the Ord neighborhood. About 25 years ago they moved to Winterset.
Mrs. Frederickson had been a member of the Lutheran church since childhood.
In addition to her sons, she leaves eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were to be held at 1:30 p.m. today (Friday) from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home in charge of the Rev. W. G. Robertson, pastor of the United Presbyterian church. Burial was to be made in the Winterset cemetery.
