Death of William Kerr

William Kerr, for over thirty-five years a resident of this county, died Monday evening, July 23, at the home of his son, L. J. Kerr in the Oak Grove neighborhood, at the age of 81 years. Mr. Kerr had been ill for the past eight weeks with the flu and complications. He is survived by his wife and two sons, L. J. of Winterset and R. C. of Wilmington, California.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at two o’clock at the Oak Grove church and were conducted by the Rev. W. B. Tarr. Further details of Mr. Kerr’s life will be given in next week’s Madisonian.

DEATH OF WILLIAM KERR

William Kerr, 81 year old resident of Madison county, died at the home of his son, L. J. Kerr, in Webster township on July 23rd. Death followed a fatal illness of eight weeks.

Mr. Kerr was born in Wa--- county, Ohio, on September 14, 1852. As a youth he moved with his parents to Mahaska county, Iowa. When a young man, he moved to Cass county, where he was married to Miss Margaret Brown. They were the parents of two sons. Thirty-five years ago this family moved to Madison county, and this has since been their home.

Mr. Kerr united with the Baptist church at Massena when a young man, remaining a member until the time of his death. He was a charter member of the Masonic lodge of Massena, later transferring his membership to Winterset.

The deceased is survived by his widow, the two sons, L. J. Kerr of Winterset and Roscoe C. Kerr of Wilmington, Calif., four grandchildren and one great grandson.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. W. B. Tarr on July 25th in the Oak Grove Evangelical church. Burial was made in the Pleasant View cemetery, in charge of the Masonic lodge.
