HENRIETTA THOMPSON DIED MONDAY AT 87

Rites Conducted Wednesday at United Presbyterian Church Here

Mrs. Henrietta Thompson, a long-time resident of Madison county, died Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. David Brittain, northeast of Winterset.

Mrs. Thompson was 87 years of age. The widow of the late Robert Thompson, she was a native of Ohio.

Funeral services were held Wednesday from the United Presbyterian church in Winterset, directed by the pastor, the Rev. W. G. Robertson. Burial was made in the McDonald cemetery in Jefferson township.

SERVICES HELD FOR MRS. R. L. THOMPSON

Mrs. Robert Thompson died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sadie Brittain, Monday, October 10, at the age of 87 years.

Mrs. Thompson, the daughter of George and Nancy Nelson Clark was born near Cambridge, Guernsey county, Ohio, October 20, 1850. She came to Iowa in the fall of the year 1859 with her parents and lived in Winterset until the spring when they moved to a farm in Madison township, now known as the J. C. Thompson estate.

She was married January 12, 1870 to Robert Lyle Thompson, a native of Pennsylvania. To this union ten children were born, three sons and seven daughters. George, Sarah Elizabeth, Georgina Lynette, Springday, Henry William, Nancy Jane , James Edward, Amanda; Mary Fonda and Eunice Eulalie, all of whom are living with the exception of Springday who died in 1876.

Mrs. Thompson was a member of the Christian faith, uniting with the North Branch United Presbyterian church when services were first held in the Union and Brittain school houses in Madison and Jefferson townships.

Funeral services were held at the United Presbyterian church in Winterset, Wednesday afternoon at two o’clock, October 12. The Rev. W. G. Robertson was in charge of the service. Burial was made in the United Brethren cemetery.
