Douglas Township Farmer Died Wednesday at Age of 71

O. A. Mosby, well-known Douglas township farmer, died at his home west of Winterset on Wednesday of last week. He was 71 years of age.

Osmond Andrewson Mosby was born at Christiansand, Norway, on Oct. 23, 1866, the son of Andrew and Bertha Mosby. He came to America with his parents in 1870. The family settled at Leland, Ill., where they lived about a year before moving to Adair county, Iowa in 1871.

He grew to manhood in Adair county, and on Jan. 1, 1897, was married at Hebron to Bertha Augustine, daughter of John Augustine. They were the parents of one son. His first wife died in 1930.

He was later married to Maria Silverthorn, who died in 1932.

As an infant in Norway, he had been christened in the Lutheran church. In Adair county he affiliated with the Congregational church, and later changed to the Methodist church, of which he was a member at the time of his death.

He is survived by his son, Ernest Q. Mosby of Douglas township, a grandson, Andrew Mosby, five step grandchildren, and two stepsons.

Funeral services were held last Friday from the Hebron church in charge of the Rev. A. R. Weede of Carl. Burial was made in the Hebron cemetery.
