Widely-Known Young Man Succumbed Wednesday at Aurelia
Warren A. Spurgin, son of former County Clerk Charles E. Spurgin, died at his home in Aurelia, Ia., last Wednesday. He was 28 years of age.
The young man was widely known in Madison county, for he lived most of his life in Peru and Winterset and attended the public schools here.
The son of Charles E. and Georgia Ann Spurgin, he was born in Warren county on April 2, 1910. As a small boy he came with his parents to Madison county and grew to manhood on a farm, living for a time west of Winterset, later moving to Peru, and then to Winterset. The family moved to Aurelia about a year ago.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine, about 16 years ago. He is survived by his parents; a brother, Raymond Spurgin of Aurelia; and four sisters, Mrs. Mary Clague of Earlham, and Henrietta, Betty Jean and Barbara Jane Spurgin of Aurelia.
Funeral services were held from the Winterset Baptist Church on Friday,September 23. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
