Rose E. Moorhead, 81, of Winterset died May 10, 2007, at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 14, at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with Pastor Bobb Barrick officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.
Rose Moorhead was born Oct. 17, 1925, in Winterset to Clark and Mabel (Johnson) Simmons and was a 1943 graduate of Winterset High School. Her marriage to James Milo Moorhead took place Feb. 27, 1944, in Dalhart, Texas. She resided for most of her life in Madison County except for 10 years in Boulder, Colo.
During her career, Rose worked for the Madison County Sheriff’s Department for 17 years, retiring in 1987. While living in Colorado, she was employed in the Boulder County Sheriff’s office for 10 years. She also had worked at Ben Franklin’s, Northwest Bell, ASCS office and the skating rink. Rose was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset and a charter member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Vernon Simmons and Charles Simmons; and three sisters, Helen Fulton, June Friends and infant Fay.
She is survived by one son, Larry J. Moorhead of Winterset, and one grandson.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the V.F.W. Building Fund.
