William R. Hogue, Born in Madison County on Oct 13, 1859
William R. Hogue, one of Madison county's pioneer residents, died at his home in Truro on Monday of last week at the age of 82 years. He had fallen and broken his hip the Thursday previous to his death.
Mr. Hogue was born in Madison county on Oct. 13, 1859 and grew to manhood on a farm near Peru. For a number of years he farmed near Truro and for the past 42 years his home had been in Truro.
He was married 62 years ago to Elizabeth Jane Garst at Winterset. They were the parents of two children, John William Hogue, who died four years ago and a daughter, Mrs Myrtle Robinson, whose death occurred 34 years ago.
He was a member of the Christian church in Truro.
Mr. Hogue is survived by his wife; one granddaughter, Opal Woods; and one great grandson, Duane Woods, all of Truro; and three sisters, Mrs. John Nichols and Mrs. Clyde Taylor of Peru and Mrs. Molly Hann of Winterset.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday of last week from the Kale funeral home in Truro, conducted by the Rev. W. W. Watson. Burial was made in the cemetery there.
