MRS. CLARA LYON DIES

Mrs. Clara Lyon, long-time resident of Madison county, died Tuesday, Jan. 20th at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. A. Quick in Des Moines, at the age of 84 years.

Mrs. Lyon was born in Scott county, April 16, 1857. She spent the early years of her life in Princetown, Iowa, and after the death of her mother, came with her father to Madison county, where she made her home until 1913.

She was married to W. J. Lyon, July 4, 1875, and they were the parents of nine children, six daughters and three sons. Mr. Lyon died in 1938. She is survived by her children; Mrs. W. A. Quick and J. A. Lyon of Winterset; Mrs. C. A. Quick, Fred Lyon and Lloyd Lyon of Des Moines; Mrs. A. W. McCleary of Carlisle, Mrs. H. C. Hope of Leon, Mrs. W. D. Walford of Boone and Mrs. J. E. Bradley of Los Angeles, Cal. She also leaves 31 grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at the Harback funeral home in Des Moines last Thursday at two o'clock by the Rev. E. A. Elliott and burial was made in the Glendale cemetery.
