DEATH OF HARRIETT HALE

Harriett Wells Hale, well-known Earlham woman and formerly a resident of Winterset, died Sunday at the Lundberg nursing home in Des Moines after an illness of six months.

Miss Hale is survived by her sister, Mrs. Jennie Thompson of Earlham; and a brother, Charles Hale of Santa Cruz, Cal.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from Harbach's Funeral home in Des Moines, and the body was brought to Winterset for burial.

Harriet Wells Hale of Earlham died Sunday at the Lundberg nursing home in Des Moines following a six month’s illness. She was 77 years of age. Funeral services were held at the Harbach Funeral Home in Des Moines Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock with Rev. Ernest Victor Kennan in charge. Interment was made later at Winterset.

Miss Hale was born at St. Louis, Missouri, March 22, 1860. She came to Iowa in 1875 and settled at Winterset where she lived until 1910. She then moved to Earlham where she resided until her illness. She was a member of the Episcopal church.

She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Jennie Thomson of Earlham; a brother, Charles Hale, of Santa Cruz, California; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Nathan Hale of Des Moines.
