Mrs. Emily McComb

Emily, the daughter of Wm. and Mary Ellsworth, was born near Belville, St. Claire county, Illinois, Jan. 2, 1855, where she grew to womanhood. Her marriage to C. I. McComb was solemnized Nov. 24, 1875 to which union seven children were born two of them dying in childhood. In the year 1906, Mr. McComb came with his family to Iowa, settling in Madison county, where they have since resided.

Grandma McComb became a member of the M. E. Church in childhood, then many years later united with the Presbyterian church, in which church her membership obtained at the time of her death. Although her membership was with the Presbyterians in another city, she did not allow anything to keep her from the performance of the duties incident to Christian service, for each Sabbath found her with husband and family in the sanctuary to worship God. Now our sister is enjoying more fully those blessings of God which Jesus Christ came to reveal and bestow. A for-gleam of glory shone upon her life on earth to heighten its joys, lighten the burdens and brighten every phase of the activities involved. How blessed to acquire aid from the skies. The deceased has entered into the joy of her Lord. She is satisfied, for she to like Him, seeing Him as He is. So many things eulogizing our sister should be said, yet it is possible to embody in one statement the essentials of life, therefore let it suffice for men say of this estimable lady who has left this phase of existence that "she was a good and useful woman in society, loving God and folks."

The near kin who mourn are the husband, C. I. McComb; four daughters, Mrs. Minnie Wynkoop and Mrs. Emma Eyerly of Hamill, S. D., Mrs. Vina Holdren of Des Moines, Miss Ida and one son Lynn of Patterson. Brothers and sisters are; Mrs. Mary Cruickshank of Bloomington, Ill., C. W. Ellsworth of Peoria, Ill., Mrs. Kincheon of Chicago, Ill.; two half sisters, Mrs. Joseph Bishop of Webster City, Iowa and Mrs. Harriet Bishop of Bloomington, Ill.
