Rites Are Observed for Jeff Parsons, Cranston -- Word has been received by Oscar Townsley of the death of his brother-in-law, Jeff Parsons of Des Moines. Funeral services were conducted at the Oak Grove Christian church this afternoon.

Death of Thomas Parsons

Thomas J. Parsons, former Madison county resident, died at his home in Des Moines, Monday, August 10th at the age of 81 years. His funeral services were held in the Ft. Des Moines Methodist church Tuesday morning, August 11th, his pastor, the Rev. W. W. Watson having charge an burial was made in the Oak Grove cemetery near Cranston, Iowa.

Mr. Parsons was the son of Jasper and Effie Parsons, and was born in Lawrence county, Ohio, September 11, 1854. He moved with his parents to Maryville, Missouri, when he was a young man. In 1882 he was married to Sarah Townsley at her home near Cranston. They went to farming in Burt county, Nebraska and after five years went to McCook, Nebraska where they resided for 13 years. In 1900 they moved to Madison county and lived here until Mrs. Parsons died on March 7, 1925. The following year he moved to Ft. Des Moines, where he has since resided.

On February 11, 1931, he was married to Harriett Simpson White, who survives him. He also leaves three sisters, Barbara Long of Beatrice, Nebraska, Mary Kohl of Clifton, Kansas and Minnie McIntire of Yakima, Washington and one step daughter, Mrs. Roy Cox and two step sons, Orval White and Vernon White of Madison county.
