Thursday, April 30, 1936Death of Mrs. Roy Yates
Mrs. Roy Yates who lives southeast of Winterset, died at the Winterset hospital Wednesday morning April 29th, about 10 o'clock. Mrs. Yates who was twenty-nine years of age, was taken to the hospital over a week ago and was operated upon, April 22nd. Complications arose, causing her death.
Mrs. Yates had always lived in this community and since her marriage to Mr. Yates in 1924, has lived on the farm, three miles southeast of town. She leaves her husband, her mother, Mrs. Lizzie McIntyre and her father, R. L. Clampitt. Funeral arrangements had not been completed when the Madisonian went to press.

Thursday, May 7, 1936Marie K. Yates was born in Madison county, Iowa on July 28, 1906 and departed this life at the Winterset hospital on April 29, 1936 at the age of 29 years, 9 months and 1 day.
Her early life was spent on a farm in Douglas township where she attended the rural schools and after moving to Winterset, when she was eight years old, she attended grade and high school.
At the age of nine years, she united with the Methodist church and was a faithful attendant at Sunday School and was especially interested in the Mission Bond.
On July 1, she was united in marriage with Roy B. Yates. They moved to a farm east of Winterset which has since been their home.
She loved her home and was a tireless worker to make her home cheerful and pleasant.
Besides her husband, she leaves her mother, Mrs. Lizzie McIntyre, a number of relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home conducted by the Rev. H. L. Olmstead of the Church of Christ at 2 o'clock Friday, May 1st.
