Death of O. L. Rutledge

O. L. Rutledge, a well-known citizen of Winterset for many years died February 19th at the home of his nephew, Lee Chase. He was 74 years old.

Osmond Lineus Rutledge was the son of Archibald and Mary Rutledge, early settlers in the Stringtown neighborhood and was born on August 25, 1861, at Eddyville in Wapello county. In 1862 he came with his parents to Madison county, the family settling in Douglas township. The farm on which he was raised is now occupied by Hugh Bellman.

Mr. Rutledge moved to Winterset more than a quarter of a century ago, and engaged in veterinary work with Dr. J. W. Bunker. On March 6, 1919, he was united in marriage to Anna E. Sloan. She preceded him in death. Since last spring he had made his home with his nephew.

Mr. Rutledge was one of a family of eight children, but he is survived by only one of them, a brother, Grotus Rutledge. He also leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were held on Saturday from Tidrick's Funeral home in charge of the Rev. R. C. Cully of the Presbyterian church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
