Death of James Tullis

James W. Tullis, a member of one of Madison county's pioneer families was buried in the Winterset cemetery last Thursday following his death the preceding day at Greenfield.

Mr. Tullis was born near Lafayette, Indiana, March 5, 1856 the son of J. S. and Margaret Kiser Tullis. He came with his parents to Madison county in 1858. They settled just northwest of Winterset moving into the Hoosier Prairie neighborhood the following year.

As a young man, Mr. Tullis went to the Black Hills, and soon after located in Idaho, where, near Clayton, Ketchum and Boise, he spent nearly 40 years. In 1918 he returned to Iowa and has since lived near Greenfield.

Mr. Tullis was preceded in death by his wife and son and his brothers, A. L., Bert and Frank Tullis. He leaves his sister, Mrs. J. W. Robert of Greenfield, a brother, Cy Tullis of Seattle, Washington, and a number of nieces and nephews.
