DENNIS LLOYD HENKE, WINTERSET

Services for Dennis Lloyd Henke, 67, rural Winterset, who died April 9 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital, were held Tuesday, Apr. 12 at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Jerry Zanker officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery with military graveside rites by VFW Post 8142.

Born at West Point, Neb., Mar. 28, 1916, he was the son of Louis and Lillian Wulf Henke. Mr. Henke married Margeretha Marie Bausch Sept. 18, 1936 at Seneca, Kan. He had been a railroad foreman, farmer and maintenance man at the Madison County Hospital.

He was a Marine veteran of World War II and a member of the United Church of Christ at Carson, Ia. He had lived in Winterset since 1964, moving here from Oakland, Ia.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Jan of Fairfield, Calif., Robert of Oakland, Ia., Richard of Treynor, Daniel and Joel of Winterset, and William of Earlham; daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Fonda) Hering of Oakland, Mrs. Francis (Donna) Brockman of Lewis, Ia., Mrs. Willard (Janet) Bintz of Oakland, and Mrs. James (Martha) Russell of Central, S.C.; a brother, Harold of West Point; sisters, Ruth Osborn and Dorothy Poppe, both of Fremont, Neb. and Myrtle Poppe of West Point; and 16 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leslie.
