EVERETT BROBST FUNERAL MONDAY

Everett Lee Brobst of Creston, a native of Madison County, died Thursday, March 20, at Veterans Hospital in Des Moines at the age of 88. He had lived in Winterset most of his life.

Born on March 15, 1892, in Madison county, he was the son of Earse and Lorraine Allen Brobst. He was united in marriage to Mabel Marie Wright on Dec. 24, 1917, in Buchanan County, Missouri. She preceded him in death on April 21, 1977. Mr. Brobst was an army veteran of World War I.

Among the survivors are 10 children, Alfred Brobst of Colona, Ill., Albert Brobst of Winterset, Arthur Brobst of Lorimor, Betty Lou Lemon of Creston, Cecilla Piesecki of New Jersey, Bonnie Hughes of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Josephine Tearns, Violet Anderson, Mary Jane Vandermark and Patricia Riggs, all of Des Moines; 40 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Esther Christensen of Winterset.

He was also preceded in death by four children, Everett Brobst, Jr., Paul Brobst, Walter Brobst and Pauline Malchert.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 24, at Collins Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Richardson officiating. Military graveside services were performed by V.F.W. Post 8142 of Winterset at Primitive Baptist Cemetery.

WINTERSET, IA. — Military graveside services for Everett L. Brobst, 88 of Winterset, who died Thursday at Veterans Hospital in Des Moines, will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Primitive Baptist Cemetery here. He was a veteran of World War I. Survivors include three sons and seven daughters including Josephine Teams, Violet Anderson, Nancy Jane Vandermark and Patricia Riggs, all of Des Moines.

Coordinator's note: His birth was noted in the Winterset Madisonian in March, 1895 and the 1895 year of birth is supported by all of the censuses as well as both WWI & WWII Draft Registrations.
