Death of Simon Doop

Simon W. Doop, aged father of J. O. Doop, former Winterset grocer, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Blackmar of Casey, on Tuesday of last week. He was 91 years of age and had been bedridden for the past year. He succumbed to an attack of pneumonia.

Mr. Doop was well known in Winterset. He lived here at the home of his son for 13 years, from 1915 to 1928. He was one of the few remaining Civil War veterans.

His wife died in 1904. He is survived by the son, J. O. Doop, now of Adel, and two daughters, Mrs. Blackmar of Casey and Mrs. Jessie Pearl Robinson of Pontiac, Illinois. Another son died five years ago.

Mr. Doop was the grandfather of Mrs. C. O. Koehn of Winterset.

Funeral services were held on last Thursday from his daughter's home in Casey and burial was made in the cemetery there.
