W. E. HARLAN DIED HERE THIS WEEK

W. E. Harlan, a long-time resident of Winterset, died at the Winterset hospital Tuesday night. He had been critically ill there for the past several weeks.

Mr. Harlan was 80 years of age. For the past 15 years he had been cared for at the home of the late Mrs. Sarah Oiler.

Funeral services will be held from the Winterset Church of Christ this Thursday at 2 p.m.

William E. Harlan was born in Winterset, Dec. 4, 1861, the son of William and Mary Eilene Harlan, and of a family of five sisters and one brother.

He was married to Cassandra Young in 1886 and they were the parents of one son, Everet Earl Harlan, who passed away June 1938, his wife in 1905. He had lived in and near Winterset all his life. He had been in ill health for several years but was bedfast only one month.

He leaves one sister, Mrs. Martha Young of Indianola, one granddaughter Mrs. Berdine Welchman and two great granddaughters Kay and Jo Anne of Des Moines, and several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Funeral services were conducted in the Church of Christ Thursday afternoon at two o'clock, and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
