Earlham-(Special)-April 5. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Thursday afternoon for Charles A. Sandusky who passed away Monday evening. Mr. Sandusky had been an engineer at the Hawkeye quarry for many years. Rev. Mitchell of the Methodist Church preached the funeral sermon. The boys quartet from the local school sang two songs.
Charles A. Sandusky, son of Alexander and Josephine Sandusky was born October 22, 1874 and departed this life, March 20, 1937, aged 62 years, 5 months and 7 days.
He was united in marriage to Winifred Bell, February 5, 1918. To this union two children, Donna Bell and Charles A. were born.
In his passing he leaves behind this wife, two children, a sister, Mrs. Vinnie McCall of Fairview, Missouri, a nephew, Jimmie Rhodes who was making his home with the Sandusky family and other relatives and friends. he was a member of the Earlham Masonic lodge and Ford VanHosen of the Des Moines Consistery was present and had charge of the Masonic funeral service at the church and cemetery. Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery with brothers of the Masonic lodge as honorary pallbearers.

He was united in marriage to Miss Winifred Bell, February 5, 1918. To this union were born two children-Donna Belle and Charles A. both in high school in Earlham.
In his passing he leaves behind the widow, two children and a sister, Mrs. Vinnie McCall, Fairview, Missouri, a nephew, Jimmie Rhodes who has been making his home with the Sandusky family and other relatives and many friends.
Mr. Sandusky was a friend to man-a man without fear. A member of the Masonic Fraternity of the 32 degree. And his membership was with the Madison Lodge No. 568 A.F. & A.M. in Earlham. He was initiated into the higher degree in Des Moines.

Death Due to Gastric Ulcer Takes Well Known Hawkeye Quarry Employee
Charles A. Sandusky, 62, for many years an engineer on the Hawkeye Quarry spur, died at the Winterset hospital Monday night. His death was due to a perforating gastric ulcer.
Mr. Sandusky had not been feeling well for several months but was able to go about his business until Saturday night when his condition suddenly grew worse. Dr. Carver was called to his assistance and on Monday he was taken to the Winterset hospital for an emergency operation. He collapsed on the way to the hospital and death came before the operation could be performed.
A funeral service in charge of Rev. Hugh S. Mitchell was held this afternoon at the Earlham M. E. Church. Interment was in the Earlham cemetery with burial service by the Masonic lodge.
