DEATH OF J. G. HASKINS

J. G. Haskins, father of Mrs. Chas. Howell and one of the early business men of Winterset, died at his home in Des Moines yesterday at the age of eighty four. The following information is taken from the Register and Leader:

J. G. Haskins, retired banker and a pioneer of Polk county, died at 1:45 o'clock this morning at his home at 1369 East Thirteenth street. He was 84 years old. For at least a year his health has been very poor, his extreme age being largely the cause. A few days ago, Mr. Haskins grew worse. He was confined to his bed. At three o'clock Sunday afternoon he lost consciousness and did not fully regain it after that time. All of the immediate relatives were at the bedside, with the exception of Mr. Haskins' daughter, Mrs. Carrie Howell of Portland, Ore. She had been apprised of the seriousness of her father's condition, and is now enroute to Des Moines with her daughter.

Mr. Haskins was at one time president of the American and Iowa Savings banks. Several years ago he retired from an active business life.

No funeral arrangements have been made. The services are not to be held until Mrs. Howell arrives in Des Moines from Portland.
