Former Resident Died Last Week in Denver, Colorado
Joseph R. McKinzie, former resident of the Macksburg neighborhood, died on Sunday of last week at the general hospital in Denver, Colorado. He was 54 years old.
Mr. McKinzie lived for several years in Colorado, but the greater part of his life was spent in Iowa where he worked for the C.B.& Q railroad. He was married on March 9, 1908 to Clara LaVerna Bennett.
He was a member of the United Brethren church in Blackwell, Oklahoma and the Odd Fellows lodge in New Virginia, Iowa.
In addition to his widow he is survived by a son, Howard McKinzie of Brighton, Colorado; three sisters, Mary Bonham of Macksburg, Annie Rollins of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Linnie Shoemaker of Cement, Oklahoma; and two brothers, John McKinzie of Blackwell, Oklahoma and Logan McKinzie of Lorimor.
Funeral services were held last Thursday from the church at Macksburg, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. M. D. Summerbell. Burial was made in the Moon cemetery.
