Death of W. C. Eyerly

W. C. Eyerly died at his home near Macksburg Tuesday night, following a long illness. Burial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Macksburg. He was 60 years old.

Mr. Eyerly, who was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Eyerly, spent his boyhood on the Eyerly farm in Douglas township, near West Star church. After his marriage to Ada Speer of Jackson township, he located on a farm northeast of Macksburg, where he has since resided.

He was one of the highly respected citizens of Grand River township and active in civic and church affairs.

He is survived by his widow; five children, Orris Eyerly, Rollo Eyerly, Mrs. Oren Wallace, Mrs. Alice Lawless and Ralph B. Eyerly, all of near Macksburg. One son, Wayne, died about 13 years ago. He also leaves six brothers, Virgil, Frank, Charles, Loren, Fred, and Ray Eyerly and two sisters, Mrs. Alice Knight and Mrs. Luella Cooklin; in addition to five half-brothers and two half-sisters.

W. C. EYERLY

W. C. Eyerly, son of George and Martha Eyerly was born October 31, 1876 and died at his home near Macksburg December 15, 1936 at the age of 60 years, 1 month and 15 days. He was born on a farm 5 miles west of Winterset in the West Star neighborhood where he grew to manhood. His entire life has been spent in Madison county.

He was married to Ada Martha Speer November 30, 1898. To this union were born 6 children, Orris C., Mrs. Oren Wallace, Mrs. Alice Lawless, Rolla S., Ralph B., all of Macksburg. One son, William Wayne preceded him in death 12 years ago.

Mr. Eyerly accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and Lord. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church in Macksburg and always stood for the highest and best things in life. He was a loving husband and father. He loved his home and was never happier than when his children and grandchildren were with him. He was always ready to do for others when the opportunity came.

Will, as everbody called him, was always well and strong until about a year ago, his health began to fail and in March 1936, he went to the hospital in Winterset for treatment and from that time on, he gradually grew worse and all the medical and kind loving hands could do and his strong desire to be well again, were of no avail.

He leaves to mourn his going, his faithful wife, five children and 12 grandchildren, two sisters and six brothers. They are Mrs. Luella Cooklin of Ridgeway, Missouri, Mrs. Alice Knight of Meridian, Idaho, Virgil of Earlham, Frank and Charley of Brighton, Colorado, Loren, Ray and Fred of Winterset. Also seven half sisters and brothers, Mrs. Beulah Thomas, Mrs. Mabel Shoemaker, Emerson and Lloyd of Winterset, Howard of Brighton, Colorado, Hugh of Chicago and Sam of Des Moines and his step mother, Mrs. Clara Eyerly of Winterset, also many other relatives and a host of friends and neighbors.
