SERVICES FOR JAMES DOTY ON SATURDAY

Body of Macksburg Youth, Drowned in Idaho Is Recovered

Funeral services for James Doty, 18-year-old Macksburg youth, who was drowned in Idaho April 17, will be held tomorrow (Saturday) from the Methodist church at Macksburg in charge of the pastor, the Rev. M. D. Summerbell.

The boy was drowned in Lake Walcott near Rupert, Idaho where he was a member of the CCC camp. He and a companion were swimming in the lake when a sudden storm came up. After the storm both of them were missing. A boat containing some of Doty's clothing drifted to shore but the boy's body was not found until last week.

Doty was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Doty of Macksburg who survive him. He also leaves three sisters, Lois, Mary and Irene Doty.

James Franklin Doty

James Franklin Doty, son of Frank and Emma Pyle Doty, was born in Macksburg February 14, 1919, and died at Rupert, Idaho, April 16, 1937, aged 18 years, 2 months and 2 days. H received his education in the Macksburg consolidated school where he completed his sophomore year in May 1936.

In company with a friend he left Macksburg May 4, 1936 for Rupert, Idaho, where he enlisted in the CCC camp. He attended the Baptist church and Sunday school all his life and was converted about three years ago.

He is survived by his father, mother and three sisters, Mrs. Lois Doty of Jamacia, Mrs. Mary Hall of Ames, and Irene Doty, who is a nurse in Rochester, Minnesota.

A brother, Gerald, aged 3 years preceded him in death in 1907.

Six friends acted as pallbearers, Robert Herren, Kenneth Claypool, Blaine Tucker, Billy Stewart, Wyman Graham and Ralph Pinckney.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Macksburg May 21, conducted by the Rev. Summerbell, assisted by the Rev. Hall of Madrid, Burial was made in Moon cemetery.
