Friday, July 23, 1937ADAM BUSCH DIES AFTER BRIEF ILLNESS
Pioneer Resident Succumbed in Creston Hospital Saturday.
Adam Busch, pioneer resident of Madison county, died at the Greater Community hospital in Creston Saturday, July 17th at the age of 82 years. Mr. Busch had been in failing health for some time, but he became much worse after the death of Mrs. Busch on June 1st and he was taken to the hospital the first of last week.
Mr. Busch was a son of Henry and Elizabeth Busch and was born August 20, 1854 in Brown county, Ohio not far from Cincinnati. He came to Winterset at the age of 20 years. On December 14, 1876 he was married to Miss Elizabeth Moon and they located in Grand River township where their home has since been. They observed their 60th wedding anniversary last year.
Mr. Busch joined the Evangelical church when a young man and later changed his membership to the Baptist church at Macksburg. He had been a member of the Grand River lodge No. 406, I.O.O.F. for nearly 50 years and also a member of the Rebekah lodge. He was an earnest worker practicing by his kindly manner and friendly disposition, the character he admired, that of the Good Samaritan.
He is survived by his three daughters; Vernie at home; Mrs. Pearl Bonham of Macksburg; and Mrs. Ethel Wilder of Creston and one brother, Andrew Busch of Macksburg; and two grandchildren, Maxine and David Wilder of Creston. His wife, his parents, ten brothers and sisters and an infant daughter, Winnie have preceded him in death.
The Rev. H. L. Olmstead of Winterset conducted his funeral services at the home, Tuesday, July 20th and the I.O.O.F. lodge had charge of the services at the cemetery. He was buried in the Moon cemetery where he had been sexton for nearly 50 years.
