Mrs. Fred Shearer Dies

Mrs. Fred Shearer, former Winterset resident, died at a hospital in Portland, Oregon, Sunday, Jan. 25th. Mrs. Shearer who was about 63 years of age, became ill with a blood clot infection, several weeks ago. She was taken to the hospital and later had a limb amputated and she died following the operation.

Mrs. Shearer was the former Lena Lucas. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Lucas, who made their home in this community. She was raised here and was married to Mr. Shearer. Thirty-one years ago they moved to Portland where they have since resided, Mr. Shearer being a contractor.

Funeral and burial services were held at Portland, Jan. 27th.

Mrs. Shearer is survived by her husband and their two sons, Victor and Fenton, and three grandchildren, all of Portland. She also leaves a brother, Clarence Lucas and two sisters, Mrs. Joe Kirby and Mrs. Earl Welch of Winterset.
