GEORGE E. SMITH RITES AT LORIMOR

George Smith, a former resident of Madison county, died July 17 in Des Moines at the age of 88 years.

A son of John and Margaret Smith, he was born Dec. 21, 1872, in Marion county. He came with his parents to Madison county, where most of his life was spent. In recent years he had made his home with a son in Des Moines.

In 1896 he was married to Grace Silverthorn, who preceded him in death. Surviving are three sons, Lyle of Des Moines, Carl of Winterset, and Gerald of Des Moines. He also leaves nine grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the Watts and Soll Funeral home at Lorimor. Burial was made in the Macksburg cemetery.
