Mrs. Cochran was 88 years of age. She was born in Oak town, near Vincennes, Ind. on Dec. 27, 1871, a daughter of Charles and Minerva Polk. When she was 3 years old, she came to Madison county with her parents. They settled in Monroe township.
As a young woman she taught in the rural schools of her community, and was one of the first superintendents in the Sunday school held at the old Polk school in Monroe township. She was also one of the founders of the present Fellowship church.

Her nearest surviving relative is a sister, Mrs. Mary E. Brackett of Portland, Ore.
