Earl E. Tolley of Des Moines, a native of Madison County, died Thursday, March 20, at Northwest Community Hospital in Des Moines at the age of 70. Mr. Tolley had moved to Des Moines from Madison County in 1965.
Born on June 17, 1909, in Madison County, he was the son of Samuel and Lillian May Jones Tolley. On June 16, 1938, he was united in marriage to Helen Hope at Princeton, Mo., and his wife survives him. Mr. Tolley was a truck driver until his retirement in 1974.
Also surviving are two sons, John of Des Moines and Ronald of Winterset; six grandchildren; and three sisters, Opal Pew of Salina, Kan., Lois Drager of Fairbault, Minn., and Ethel Green of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 22, at Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Updike officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.
