FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR DOSHA COX

Mrs. Dosha Cox, a long time resident of the Pitzer and Penn Center communities of Madison county, died Dec. 27 at the University hospital in Iowa City. She was 70 years of age.

Mrs. Cox was a daughter of Layton and Rosa Mills. She was born Nov. 21, 1883, in Dallas county, where her early life was spent in the Bear Creek neighborhood.

She was married to James E. Cox in 1905, and they moved to Madison county. They were parents of two children. Her husband died several years ago.

She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Vera Rutherford of Des Moines; a son, Francis Cox of Perry; four grandchildren; and four brothers and a sister.

Funeral services were held Dec. 30 from the Earlham Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. Everett Hawbaker of Pella. Burial was made in the Penn Center cemetery.

DOSHA COX

Dosha Addie Mills, eldest child of Layton and Rosa Mills, was born November 21st, 1883 in Dallas county, Iowa. She left this life and went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Sunday, December 27th, 1953, at the age of 70 years, one month and six days. She had been a patient in University hospital in Iowa City, Iowa since Thanksgiving.

On May 24, 1905, she was united in marriage to James E. Cox of Earlham. Two children were born to them, Mrs. Vera Rutherford of Des Moines and Francis E. Cox of Perry.

With the exception of one year when they lived in Lisbon, North Dakota, Mr. and Mrs. Cox spent their lives in this vicinity. They farmed south of Earlham for 24 years and in 1929 moved to Pitzer where they lived until 1942, then came to make Earlham their home.

Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and an infant brother.

She is survived by her daughter and son, four granddaughters, Mrs. A. D. Cron of Des Moines; Mrs. Alden Chamberlain of Monroe, Iowa; Mrs. Everett Haubaker of Pella, Iowa and Miss Kathryn Cox of Omaha, Nebraska; one great granddaughter, Michele Cron, two great grandsons, Dennis Cron and Jimmy Haubaker, four brothers, Delber Mills of Boise, Idaho; Aurval of Portland, Oregon; Oren of Floyd, Iowa; and Clair of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. A. A. Nolte of Ottumwa, Iowa, several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

She will be missed so very much for she was always a loving parent and sincere friend, but Christ whom she trusted completely for her hope of Everlasting life made known His will by taking her beyond the reach of sin and sadness.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 30th in Earlham at the Methodist church. The Rev. Everett Hawbaker of Pella, Iowa officiated. Dean Hall, a friend of the Cox family from Perry sang "Beyond the Sunset"; Mrs. Chas. Soderberg and Mrs. Van Fletcher sang "God's Tomorrow". Mrs. Mervyn McLennan was the pianist.
