February 20, 1986Lucille Hoskins, daughter of Richard G. and Elfleeta Stribling Hoskins, was born May 17, 1903, in Dallas County, Iowa and died February 11, 1986 in Los Angeles, California.
A graduate of Earlham High School, she attended Penn College and graduated from Drake University after which she taught in the Casey and Estherville, Iowa schools. In 1929 she went to Los Angeles where she operated a private pre-school for many years. She was a birthright member of the Earlham Friends Church, where her grandfather, Rev. John Stribling, had been pastor. She was also a member of Phi Mu sorority and the Ebell club in Los Angeles.
Surviving are two sisters, Lois Hoskins, Earlham, Iowa, and Esther Hoskins, Los Angeles; and three nieces, Helen Warren, State College, Pennsylvania, Carolyn Press, Cumberland, Maryland and Marian Johnson, Ida Grove, Iowa.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday, February 17 at the McKee Funeral home in Earlham with Reverend Eldon Cole officiating. Organ music was provided by Irene Cole. Pallbearers were Gale Marston, Beryl Kenworthy, Robert Hunter, Leroy Fuller, Graham Godby and Wayne Koboldt. Interment was in the Earlham Cemetery.
