LOUISA NEWTON DIED WEDNESDAY

Succumbs at Home of Son Here From Attack of Pneumonia

Mrs. Louisa Newton, a resident of Madison county for 38 years died Wednesday at the home of her son, C. L. Newton, near Winterset. She had been ill a week with pneumonia. (d. Feb. 3, 1937)

Mrs. Newton was 81 years of age at the time of her death. She was the former Louisa J. Mullen and was born June 28, 1855, in Polk county. When she was 3 years old, after the death of her father, the family moved to Story county where she was reared.

She was married to Richard C. Newton on April 17, 1878 at Nevada. They are parents of a daughter and two sons, the former dying in 1901. Mrs. Newton was left a widow by the death of her husband in 1912.

Mrs. Newton joined the Cumberland Presbyterian church at the age of 14 years. During her residence in Winterset, she attended the Methodist church as long as her health would permit.

She is survived by her two sons, Glen and C. L. Newton, both of Winterset, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday from the Methodist church here in charge of the pastor, the Rev. M. R. Talley. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
