Ramsey Acheson, I. S. Ford and Samuel Myers, Three of Madison County’s Old Time Residents Pass Away
Ivin Stephenson Ford was born in Bourbon county, Kentucky September 17, 1826, died at his house in Winterset on Monday, April 27, 1902, aged 75 years, 7 months and 10 days. When about three years old he moved with his parents to Indianapolis, Indiana. In 1853 he emigrated to Davis county, Iowa residing there until 1863 when he moved to Madison county. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Fry June 22, 1848 and to them were born nine children, seven of whom are still living. His last years were full of suffering which he endured with remarkable fortitude and resignation. When a young man he united with the M. E. church and was a constant attendant and consistent member for more than fifty years.
Funeral services were held from the Winterset M. E. church Wednesday at two p. m., conducted by the pastor Rev. C. J. English, assisted by Rev. W. W. Williams of the Winterset circuit. His dealings with his fellow men were marked by charity, integrity, and uprightness. To his lifelong friends he leaves the memory of a noble character and a life full of usefulness and good deeds. To his companion and loved ones the cherished memory of a devoted husband and a kind loving father.
