Ramsey Acheson, I. S. Ford and Samuel Myers, Three of Madison County’s Old Time Residents Pass Away

Ramsey Acheson was born in Muskingum county, Ohio, January 7th, 1843. Died Saturday April 26, 1902, aged 59 years 3 months and 19 days. When nine years of age he moved with his parents to Muscatine county, Iowa arriving in 1852 where he remained until the death of his parents and one brother.

He volunteered for the defense of his country in the spring of 1861, and on September 23 of that year he was enrolled in Company C. of the eleventh regiment of Iowa Infantry. He served three years with his regiment and received an honorable discharge in October 1864.

He removed to Madison county in 1868 and lived here until the time of his death. He leaves a wife and son, two brothers and one sister to mourn his loss. He was a man of quiet retiring disposition and enjoyed the respect and confidence of many friends.

Funeral services were held at the home on Monday, April 28, conducted by his pastor Rev. J. H. White, of the United Presbyterian church. The members of the Pitzer Post G. A. R. attending in a body to pay the last respects to a beloved comrade.
