Death of Sarah Akin

Sarah E. Akin, one of the oldest residents of the Macksburg neighborhood, died at the Winterset hospital March 12. She was nearly 82 years of age.

Miss Akin was the daughter of Lewis and Mary Akin and was born in Davis county, March 17, 1854. As a small child she came to Madison county with her parents, spending most of her life here. She made her home with her parents until after their death. She then moved to the home of a brother, Jesse Akin of Hawarden, where she lived ___years. Returning to Madison county, she has made her home since with a sister, Emma Brady and a brother, Lewis Akin.

She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Emma Brady, and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, five brothers, three sisters and seven half-brothers preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held at the M. E. church in Macksburg on March 14, conducted by the Rev. M. D. Summerbell. Burial was made in the Macksburg cemetery. (Moon cemetery)
