Mrs. Roger Morrissey Dies

Mrs. Roger Morrissey, a life long resident of Madison county died last Thursday noon, March 5th at the Winteset hospital, after a short illness. Mrs. Morrissey who was 61 years of age, had been in poor health all winter, but her condition was not regarded as serious until last Wednesday when she was taken to the hospital and she died the next day.

Mrs. Morrissey was the former Miss Ellen Tiernan. She was a daughter of John and Ellen Reagan Tiernan and was born in this county October 11, 1874. On February 6, 1906 she was married to Mr. Morrissey at St. Patrick's church. Since then they have resided in or near Winterset.

The deceased is survived by her husband and their six children, Mary, Adorine, Elizabeth, Magdalene, Roger, Jr., and John. All live here except Miss Adorine and John who make their home in Davenport. She also leaves two brothers and two sisters; P. J. and James Tiernan of Booneville and Mrs. J. H. McManus of Bevington and Miss Annie Tiernan of Booneville.

The Rev. Wm. Hahessy celebrated Requiem high mass for Mrs. Morrissey, Saturday, March 7, at 8:30 o.clock at St. Joseph's Catholic church. Burial was in St. Patrick's cemetery in Lee township with the Rev. J. Judge assisting. The pallbearers were nephews; Edward, Patrick and Bernard Morrissey of Winterset, Peter and James Tiernan of Booneville and John Caffrey of Knoxville.
