Cumming Resident for Past 16 Years Was 51 Years of Age
Mrs. Leland M. Shade, formerly of this community, died Monday, April 7, in a Des Moines hospital. She was 51 years of age.
Mrs. Shade was the former Bertha Blanche Mabbitt, daughter of John and Ardellie Lamb Mabbitt. She was born at Earlham on July 4, 1906. She was married at Adel on Dec. 25, 1925, to Leland Shade. For the last 16 years they had lived in the Cumming community.
Surviving are her husband; a son, Murray L. Shade of Creston; a daughter, Mrs. Goldie Solomon of Des Moines; five grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Vada Criss of Topeka, Kan., Mrs. Sylvia Schoenenberger and Mrs. Irene Kephart of Winterset; and four brothers, Oscar Mabbitt of Winterset, Tom Mabbitt of Henderson, Wesley Mabbitt of Topeka, Kan., and Russell Mabbitt of Hampton.
Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday afternoon from the funeral home in Cumming, in charge of the Rev. Ralph Priebe. Burial will be made in the Pitzer cemetery.
