Death of Mary Gavin

Miss Mary E. Gavin, a life-long resident of Madison county, died last Friday at a hospital in Council Bluffs as the result of paralytic stroke. She was 76 years old.

For 23 years, Miss Gavin had served as housekeeper to the late Rev. Father M. F. Dugan of St. Patrick's parish, Irish settlement. Ill health forced her to retire to the hospital, three years ago.

The deceased is the last of the family of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Gavin who lived on a farm near Patterson. Her parents, one brother, and one sister preceded her in death. She is survived by three nephews; Martin Gavin of Martensdale, John Gavin of California and Frank Gavin of Montana; and a niece, Mrs. Walter Kelly of Des Moines.

The body was brought to the Martin Gavin home last Saturday. Funeral services were conducted in St. Patrick's church, Monday in charge of the Rev. Father William Hahessy of Winterset. Burial was made in the family lot in the St. Patrick's cemetery.
