Walter V. Ramsey, son of William and Susanna Ramsey, entered this life June 27, 1873 in Dallas county, Iowa and died at Perry, Iowa, May 27th, 1937 at the age of 63 years and 11 months.

When Walter was a lad of 10 years, his parents moved to Jewell county, Kansas, where they lived for seven years, returning to Iowa in 1890 where he had continued to live since that time.

On December 22nd, 1897 Walter V. Ramsey and Emma Garrett were united in marriage and their wedded years have been associated with the life of Earlham and its vicinity.

To the home thus formed have come these children, Helen, Mrs. Fred Fry of Earlham, Hilda, Mrs. Lester Neff of Flint, Michigan and Lois, Mrs. Lloyd Barr of Winterset.

For almost a quarter of a century Mr. Ramsey has been identified with the business interests of Earlham. Being of an affable, genial nature he made many friends who delighted in his friendship because of his sincerity.

Mr. Ramsey was a birthright member of the Conservative Friends Church and his life was a constant expression of his interest in efforts that contribute to the moral uplift of the community.

He was of a quiet, unassuming disposition, faithful to his family; a lover of his home and devoted to all its interests; unfailing in the hours of suffering and hardships that overtook those who had first claim upon him; a kind neighbor, ready to give help and sympathy wherever it was needed. His passing is a distinct loss to our community.

He leaves the wife, daughters, four granddaughters; three sisters, Emma Moffitt of Ackworth, Iowas, Dorcas Ramsey of Pasadena, California, and Ruth Benson of Earlham; also seven brothers, P. L. of Sidney, Montana, J. A. and A. W. of Pasadena, California, T. E. of Tacoma, Washington, Homer V. of Pomona, California, Milton of Redfield and Earl of Earlham.
