Death of Mrs. Frank Bond

Ten years of ill health ended in the death of Mrs. Frank Bond (Emma) of Winterset Saturday. She was 74 years of age.

Mrs. Bond was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Headley and was born May 10, 1861 in Knox county, Illinois. She was married to Frank Bond on May 22, 1881. They came to Iowa in 1893, settling in Jackson township near Pitzer, where they made their home for 18 years. In 1911 they moved to Winterset where they have since resided.

In 1903 Mrs. Bond became afflicted with failing eyesight in the last few years being able only to distinguish light. Other ailments had confined her to her bed much of the time during the past ten years.

In early life she had joined the Methodist church in Illinois. At Pitzer she united with the United Presbyterian church. After moving to Winterset, they returned to the Methodist church. Mrs. Bond maintained an active interest in her church and community throughout life.

Mr. and Mrs. Bond were the parents of four children, all of whom survive their mother. They are Ray Bond of Winterset, Erwin Bond of Cambridge, Mrs. Vera Nelson of Lohrville and Dale Bond of Winterset. She is also survived by her husband and a sister, Mrs. Laura Saunders of Downs, Kansas.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Methodist church in Winterset in charge of the Rev. M. R. Talley. Burial was made in the Penn Center cemetery.
