OBITUARY

Thomas C. Maxwell, youngest son of Charles and Pamelia Mendenhall Maxwell, was born February 26, 1858, in the Cedar Creek neighborhood near Salem, Henry county, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. As a young man he went to Kansas where he pioneered for several years.

He came to Earlham on the death of his brother Josiah in 1898, where he remained to take care of his brother's farm making his home with the family until they moved to Oskaloosa.

In 1907 he was united in marriage to Minnie DeVore. In 1917 they moved from their farm to Earlham where he spent the remainder of his life. His wife preceded him in death in 1928. Soon after this his niece Elizabeth Maxwell came to live with him each making a home for the other.

T. C. Maxwell was a birthright member of the Cedar Creek Friends church.

Neighbors and friends are going to miss the many kindly services which he took much pleasure in rendering.

He departed this life on the morning of December 7, 1937 at the age of 79 years, nine months and 11 days. Besides the niece who made her home with him, he leaves to mourn their loss one brother, Enoss of near Salem, Iowa, three nieces, seven nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
