DEATH OF A. J. DOOLEY

Relatives here received word last Friday, December 21st, of the death on that day of A. J. Dooley of Topeka, Kansas. Mr. Dooley, who was 69 years of age, had been suffering with rheumatism for some time, but it was thought that his condition was improving. He suddenly became worse, however, and died Friday morning. Mr. Dooley lived for many years in this county, and was a son of the late Mr. and Mr. J. A. Dooley. They first resided in Union township, and then later made their home in Douglas township. A number of years ago, Mr. Dooley's health failed him, so that he had to leave the farm. He was in the implement business in Dexter and moved to Topeka in 1901, where he had since resided.

He was married to Miss Elizabeth Beck in 1881. She and their five children survive him: Max Beck, Wilbur and Mrs. Ila Taylor, of Topeka; Mrs. Lucile Rosacker, of Emporia, Kansas, and Mrs. Jeanette McDonald of Norton, Kansas. He also leaves a brother, Dick, who resides in Dexter, and three sisters, who make their home in the west.

Funeral services were held in Topeka Monday morning and burial was made there.

Following Mr. Dooley's death, an autopsy was held, which showed that he had swallowed a piece of chicken bone. This became lodged in his lung, and caused an abscess, which brought about his death. Doctors stated, that had they known the cause of his illness they could have done nothing to have saved him.

Mrs. Dooley's sister and brother, Miss Jeanette Beck and Mr. John Beck, went to Topeka, Friday. Mr. Beck returned Monday, but Miss Beck remained for a longer visit.
